Ousmane Sow Huchard -Senegal- (1942-2020)
Ousmane Sow Huchard an academic, environmental activist and former Member of Parliament, was born on December 5, 1942 in Ziguinchor. Anthropologist, museologist, musicologist, art critic, museum curator and international consultant, he has first of all received technical training in electricity. He is appointed successively chief curator of the Musée Dynamique (1983-1988), technical advisor to the office of the Minister of Culture (1986-1988), curator of art exhibitions abroad of Senegal (1989-1990), President of the Scientific Council of the Biennale of Contemporary African Art (Dak’Art), (1993-1999), and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Museum of Black Civilizations in Dakar, a position he occupied until his death on 1 July 2020.
