Angela Davis -United States of America- (1944)

Born on January 26, 1944 in Alabama, Angela Davis is marked in her youth by the racial segregation that prevails in the southern United States. Feminist activist, frequenting committed circles, she will also join the Black Panther Party. In 1969, she was a teacher at the University of Los Angeles and was dismissed because of her political activism. In 1970, Angela Davis was accused of having organised a hostage-taking in a court. She was arrested and then imprisoned for sixteen months before being tried and acquitted. Upon her release from prison in 1971, Angela Davis published several books that made her one of the most important hard-line intellectuals of her generation.
