Abdoulaye Wade -Senegal- (1926)
Me Abdoulaye Wade was born on 29 May 1926 in Saint-Louis. He belongs to the the first generation of African intellectuals to graduate from the Federal Training School of Teachers in French West Africa. Becoming a renowned lawyer, he defines himself as a liberal who seeks to rely on the quality of the Senegal’s human resources to “build a modern country, with the right people and basic infrastructure”. After 30 years of political experience and 19 years in the opposition, Mr. Abdoulaye Wade is appointed President of the Republic of Senegal on 19 March 2000, during the first transition in Senegal. The President Wade is notably the designer of the Omega Plan which will give birth to NEPAD. President Abdoulaye Wade is re-elected President of the Republic of Senegal on 25 February 2007. On March 25, 2012, he is beaten by Macky Sall who becomes the fourth President of the Republic of Senegal.
