First exit from Africa

Homo ergaster (laboring) or Homo erectus (standing) first ventured out of Africa and into Asia and Europe approximately 2 million years ago. This initial departure is evident from a clear trail of skulls and fossil remains belonging to various hominid species. Remains of Homo georgicus, dating back 1.8 million years, were discovered in Dmansi, Georgia. Pithecanthropus erectus fossils, dating back 1.6 million years, were found in Java and Indonesia. Additionally, Homo antecessor fossils, dating back around 1.2 million years, were discovered at Sima del Elefante in Spain. Furthermore, Sinanthropus pekinensis fossils, dating back approximately 1 million years, were found in Lantian, China. In Europe, Homo erectus evolved into Homo heidelbergensis, which was discovered in Mauer, Germany. Homo heidelbergensis fossils are dated to between 600,000 and 550,000 years ago. Additionally, Homo neanderthalensis fossils, dating back between 200,000 and 27,000 years ago, were found in Caune de l’Arago in Tautavel, France. In Asia, several regional variants of Homo erectus emerged around 50,000 years ago. Homo floresiensis was discovered in Liang Bua Cave on the island of Flores, while Homo neanderthalensis and Denisovans were found in Denisova Cave in Russia.
Last exit from Africa
Homo sapiens is believed to have emerged in Africa over 300,000 years ago. Descendants of Homo erectus/ergaster (an archaic form of Homo sapiens) are found in North Africa, specifically at Djebel Irhoud, dating back 315,000 years. In East Africa, archaic Homo sapiens has been discovered at sites like Omo Kibish (195,000 years), Herto (160,000 years in Ethiopia), Ngaloba (120,000 years in Tanzania), and others. Subsequently, these archaic Homo sapiens populations migrated to other continents, including Asia, Europe, America, and Oceania. Genetic evidence suggests that instead of completely replacing the archaic populations they encountered, Homo sapiens neanderthalensis engaged in gene exchange with them, leading to hybridization.
