Walter Max Sisulu -South Africa- (1912-2003)
Walter Max Ulyate Sisulu (born 18 May 1912 in Engcobo and died 5 May 2003) is a South African politician, ANC activist and anti-apartheid fighter. A former Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC), friend and Nelson Mandela’s companion, he remained committed throughout his life to the struggle for a multiracial democracy. Imprisoned for more than 25 years by the white minority government, Walter Sisulu was known and loved, beyond South Africa’s borders, for his humility, his integrity, his smartness and vision.
